Ion Izagirre Insausti secured the Tour of the Basque Country title after stage six in Eibar, Spain, today.
The Spanish rider completed the event in 19:24:09. Ireland’s Daniel Martin (UAE Team Emirates) finished in second and 29 seconds late with Denmark’s Jakob Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team) in third and 36 seconds behind the winner.

The 118.2km stage was won by Britain’s Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) in 2:59:46, beating Martin and Fuglsang by one second.
Yates was part of a group of five riders (Fuglsang, Martin, Insausti and Tadej Pogacar) with 3.5km to go. Their gap to the chasing bunch grew to around one minute and 26 seconds. They managed to hold on to the lead until the finish.
