Colombian Esteban Chaves won stage 19 of the Giro d’Italia, which travelled from Treviso to San Martino di Castrozza, today.
The Mitchelton-Scott rider crossed the finish line after 151km in a time of 4:01:32, with Andrea Vendrame (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec) and Amaro Antunes (CCC Team) in second and third respectively.
Giovanni Carboni (Bardiani CSF) placed fourth, with Pieter Serry (Deceuninck-QuickStep) completing the top five.
“Last couple of years I’ve had a lot of difficult moments but I have a beautiful family, friends and people by my side. We all worked together and this is a victory for everyone who supported me. Thank you very much everyone,” said Chaves.
Richard Carapaz (Movistar Team) held on to the overall lead for the sixth consecutive stage, with Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) second and Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) third.
