The German, who rides for Katusha-Alpecin, beat the Netherlands’ Boy van Poppel (Roompot-Charles) and Britain’s Christopher Lawless (Team Ineos) in the sprint to the finish of the 132km race from Barnsley.
Dutchman Jesper Asselman (Roompot-Charles) retained the overall lead ahead of Zabel and Van Poppel.
