Wout van Aert was crowned the time-trial champion at the Belgian Road Championships in Gent yesterday.
The 24-year-old Jumbo-Visma rider, who was runner-up in this year’s Binckbank Classic, completed the 39km route in a time of 44:47.
Yves Lampaert (Deceuninck-QuickStep) placed second, with Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-QuickStep) third.
Fourth and fifth went to Victor Campenaerts (Lotto Soudal) and Frederik Frison (Lotto Soudal) respectively.
The 26km women’s time-trial was won by Lotte Kopecky (Lotto Soudal), with Jolien D’Hoore (Boels Dolmans Cyclingteam) second and Annelies Dom (Lotto Soudal) third.
