Nicholas and Michael Lambrecht stole the show when they won the men’s team event on the opening stage of the Greyt Escape mountain bike race in Greyton, Western Cape, today.
They (2:43:48) finished the 65km event ahead of Shaun Frayne and William Wakefield (3:06:42). Clyde Hayward and Charl Bleach (3:21:57) followed in third.
Anel Strampe and Zane Coetzee claimed a winning time of 4:15:15 when they finished first in the women’s race.
The mixed victory went to Con and Ilse Viljoen (3:39:25) after they beat Paul Gwynne and Lynnae Endersby (3:55:33) to the finish. Brad Gold and Jacqui Henderson (4:05:51) rounded out the podium.
Maniora Regis won the solo men’s race in 2:56:42 to beat Karl Lambrecht (3:04:20) and Jacques Coetzer (3:06:50).
Louise Ferreira led the women’s race home in 3:23:06 while Margi Carstens (3:24:50) and Marzelle van der Merwe (3:33:24) placed second and third respectively.
