The live tracking and leaderboard for this year’s Race Across America, which starts in Oceanside, California, today, can be followed below.
The RAAM is by all accounts the world’s toughest cycling race. It takes solo racers and relay teams on a journey to Annapolis, Maryland.
Solo riders have 12 days to complete the 4 800km (3 000 mi) challenge, while the teams have nine days.
They will also climb 53 340m (175 000 feet) and cross 12 states before finishing at City Dock.
The 2018 winner was Austria’s Christoph Strasser, who completed the journey in eight days, one hour and 23 minutes at an average speed of 25.65km/h (15.94mph).
He has five RAAM titles behind his name and set the fastest speed in 2014 when he rode at 26.43km/h (16.42mph).
