Giacomo Nizzolo (Dimension Data) won the final stage of the Tour of Slovenia, while Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) claimed the title in Novo mesto today.
Ulissi finished in an overall time of 19:41:23. Giovanni Visconti (Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM) and Aleksandr Vlasov (Gazprom-Rusvelo) placed second and third respectively.
“I’m really happy after this victory. I came in top form from Giro and won Grand Prix Lugano a week before Tour of Slovenia,” said Ulissi.
Nizzolo won the 167.5km fifth stage, which started in Trebnje, in a time of 4:01:55. Luka Mezgec (Mitchelton-Scott) followed him home, with Shane Archbold (Bora-Hansgrohe) third.
“I’m really happy for this win so a big thank you to the team who worked not only all day but all week, thanks to them. We will really enjoy this,” said Nizzolo.
