Defending champion Annemiek van Vleuten (Mitchelton-Scott) won the queen stage of the Giro Rosa and took the maglia rosa in Valdidentro today.
Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb Women) was runner-up, with Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) third.
South African national road champion Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio finished seventh on the day.
“I’m very proud to wear the pink jersey again, it’s my dream to wear pink. It’s very special and it is a very big goal of mine to win the Giro Rosa this year,” said Van Vleuten.
Second on the general classification is Niewiadoma, with Moolman-Pasio completing the podium.
