Pieter du Toit was crowned champion of the 50km men’s event at the Kgaswane Mountain Bike Race in Rustenburg, North West, today.
Du Toit (2:03:14) finished ahead of Alan Gordon (2:06:36) and Shaun-Nick Bester (2:06:37).
Danielle Strydom won the women’s race in 2:46:07 to beat Caitlin Thompson (2:57:59) and Michaele Cooper (3:23:11).
The 35km men’s race saw Antonie Lit (1:05:12) claim the honours ahead Konrad Spanig. Henrique Vos finished third in 1:10:48.
Chantelle van Staden (1:27:18) was the first woman home while Lona Liebenberg (1:33:18) and Janine van Niekerk (1:42:25) had to settle for second and third.
Carl du Pisani won the 10km men’s race in 22:08. Christephan Coetzee, who came in four seconds later, took second, followed by Divan Bezuidenhout (26:48).
The women’s victory went to Minette Senekal (29:53) after she finished ahead of Suzette Myburgh (31:58) and Francky Carstens (32:49).
