Jumbo-Visma’s Mike Teunissen won stage one of this year’s Tour de France, which featured a 194.5km route in Brussels, in a time of 4:22:47.
Second place went to Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe), while Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) completed the podium.
Giacomo Nizzolo (Dimension Data) placed fourth, with Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) fifth.
“I think it’ll take me some days more to imagine it because you can dream about it – the possibility to win a stage – but now it’s working out pretty nice, I would say,” said Teunissen.
Teunissen also took the yellow jersey, while Sagan and Ewan placed second and third overall.
“Tomorrow is again a big goal. Another big target and let’s go again,” said the stage winner.
