Pauline Ferrand Prevot won the elite women’s XCO race at the UCI MTB World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy, today.
The 27-year-old finished in 1:21:59, with Jolanda Neff placing second and Jenny Rissveds completing the podium.
Fourth place went to Yana Belomoina, while Anne Tauber finished fifth.
South Africans Mariske Strauss and Cherie Redecker placed 23rd and 40th respectively.
“For sure I’m emotional,” said Ferrand Prevot.
“It’s my first international victory since 2015 and a lot has happened in the last three years. It hasn’t been easy but it also hasn’t been easy for the people that support me, my sponsors and my family.
“Plenty of people are around you when you’re winning, but in the tough moments, it’s different. This is a reward for me and my hard work, but also for those that have continued to support and believe in me.”
