The Tokyo Olympic Games have had a significant impact on the 2020 UCI WorldTour men’s calendar.
Several dates on the tour, which comprises 37 events, have been adapted due to the Games that are scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9.
The tour will start in the second half of January in Australia and finish at the end of October in China.
One of the major events impacted is the Tour de France, which will start one week earlier than its traditional date of the first week in July.
The Tour de Pologne will also take place earlier, starting in July instead of August.
Some events will be held later than usual such as the RideLondon Surrey Classic, which will start after the Olympics, while the Tour of Turkey will not be registered on next year’s schedule.
This decision was taken as the number of WorldTeams in the event over the last two years were less than the minimum of 10 required by the regulations.
Finally, the Vuelta a Espana will include an extra day due to the organisation of its Grand Départ in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
