Avid cyclist Lincoln King, who suffered serious injuries in a collision with a bus on Friday afternoon in Hartbeespoort, has been transferred out of ICU.
The bus driver swerved towards King and hit his handlebars while the rider was descending Saartjiesnek Pass at around 70km an hour.

King was part of a group of cyclists, which included WorldTour professional Willie Smit, who were taking part in the annual 320km Jakkalsgat club ride.
King suffered 10 broken ribs and his right clavicle had four fractures.
The bus sped off, but the riders were able to identify the vehicle.

Medical services were quick to respond and transported King – who owns the Cycle Nation elite women’s team – to the Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital in Pretoria, where he underwent surgery on Saturday.
According to Rika Joubert, the team’s photographer, doctors found bleeding into his right pleural space, lung contusions, a concussion, abrasions and soft-tissue injuries. Although King is reportedly in a stable condition, she says he is at risk of contracting pneumonia.
