South African David Maree was the overall winner of the elite men’s omnium on day four of the African Continental Track Championships in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday.
Fellow countryman Steven van Heerden came second, with Algeria’s Yacine Chalel third.
Jean Spies won the elite men’s 1km time-trial, while Charlene du Preez won the 500m elite women’s time-trial.
