Dylan Girdlestone managed to secure an exciting win after a bunch sprint in the elite men’s road race for the 2020 Gauteng Road and Time-trial Championships in the East Rand this weekend.
The U23 men’s road race was won by Callum Ormiston, with Chirstiaan Klopper managing a double title win in the junior men’s category, coming in first for both the road race and the time-trial.
Klopper and his teammate rode away to take first and second in the 124km race with a 22-minute margin over third place.
The time-trial was a rain-soaked event with Kent Main successfully defending his elite title from 2019 and Marc Pritzen winning the U23 title.
Brandon Downes secured second place with Orion Craigue coming in third.
