Women’s Tour Down Under stage four results: Ruth Winder secures title

Trek-Segafredo’s Ruth Winder secured the Women’s Tour Down Under title when the final stage finished in Adelaide, Australia, today.

Winder claimed an overall time of 10:11:07. Liane Lippert (Team Sunweb) placed second on the general classification, with Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton-Scott) placing third.

“Every bike racer needs a really strong team. This is not a single-person sport, and It’s a shame I can’t bring them all onto the podium with me,” said Winder.

“To win a stage in a stage race is really, really special, but to win a GC doesn’t really happen very often, so I’m really, really happy.”

The fourth and final stage, which covered 42.5km, was won by Simona Frapporti (BePink).

Lauren Stephens (Tibco-SVB) and Rushlee Buchanan (Vantage New Zealand National Team) came second and third.
