Women’s Tour Down Under stage one results: Hosking moves into leader’s jersey

Australian Chloe Hosking moved into the leader’s jersey when she won stage one of the Women’s Tour Down Under in Macclesfield, Australia, today.

The Rally Cycling rider completed the 116.3km stage, which started in Hahndorf, in 3:17:02.

Lotta Henttala (Trek-Segafredo) and Matilda Raynolds (Specialized Women’s Racing) placed second and third.

“It feels great,” said Hosking. “I’m trading one orange jersey for another. It’s my first race with the team and the girls were incredible. I’m really stoked I could give them a UCI win.”

She added that the team knew they had to stay alert all day since they were committed to the sprint.

“I asked them to keep me out of trouble and get me into the technical section at 1.5km to go. They really executed the plan perfectly and I’m really proud of the girls.”
