Having already won the prologue and stage one, Matt Beers claimed his third successive victory in the four-day Knysna Bull mountain bike race when he romped to victory on stage two earlier today.

The win extended the NAD Pro MTB rider’s overall lead. Rogan Smart (The Bike Shop) and Justin Tuck (Gear Change SA) finished second and third respectively.
Claiming yet another stage win in the Young Bull category was Tristan Nortje of team Imbuko Giant.
“It was tough from the beginning and I struggled to get going,” said Nortje.
“Matt Beers and Henry Liebenberg rode the first 10km at full speed. Soon after, I saw Henry started suffering and then I pushed the pace on the one climb where Matt passed me. We rode together from there.
“When we reached a single-track climb Matt attacked. He’s just too strong. He got away and I just kept it steady to the finish.”
Liebenberg (Absolute Motion) finished second in the Young Bulls category, followed by Wessel Redelinghuys (dormakaba).
In the women’s race Robyn de Groot (dormakaba) narrowly won the stage, with Anne Terpstra (Ghost Factory Racing) right on her tail. Barbara Benko (Ghost Factory Racing) completed the podium.
Danielle Strydom (Trek Bikes) secured victory for the second time for the Young Bull women. Frances Janse van Rensburg (Absolute Motion) and Courteney Webb (Ciovita Cycling) came second and third.
“So far the Knysna Bull has been one of the best mountain bike experiences I have ever had. The trails and routes are really amazing,” said Janse van Rensburg.
“It’s very hard as this is my first stage race and first year in the U23, but I am loving it so far. It’s just such a well organised event.”
