Brad Gouveris claimed the criterium title at the SA National Road Cycling Championships at Swadini Forever Resort close to Hoedspruit in Mpumalanga today.

“There was a small crash about halfway into the race, that’s where the split happened,” said Gouveris, who arrived at the venue a mere 45 minutes before the start after a lengthy journey from Port Elizabeth.
“Coming into the finish there was quite a tight bend, whoever got into that corner first was bound to be the winner. So I came out the S-bend and opened my sprint from 300 metres to go into the final corner, and I managed to hold on until the end.”
Brendan van Eeden and Tyron Oliphant completed the podium.
