Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana stage four results & GC: Pogacar takes stage, reclaims lead

Slovenian Tadej Pogacar won stage four and reclaimed the overall lead at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in Altea yesterday.

The UAE Team Emirates rider crossed the line six seconds ahead of Wouter Poels (Bahrain McLaren). Tao Geoghegan Hart (Team Ineos) completed the podium.

“We decided to work on the front near the end to get me in the perfect position approaching the climb,” said Pogacar.

“Jan [Polanc] made a really hard pull on the final climb and when he stopped I accelerated and went full gas until the end. I attacked on the steepest part of the climb as that’s where I was feeling good.

“It’s really something special and really satisfying after all the work done in the winter.”

Jack Haig (Mitchelton-Scott) is currently second overall, with Geoghegan Hart third.
