Stage two of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, which took place in Cullera yesterday, was won by UAE Team Emirates rider Tadej Pogačar.

“On paper I knew that today was a good finish for me but I didn’t expect the win. I wasn’t sure of my form after such a long time without racing so I surprised myself today,” said Pogačar.
Pogačar finished the event in 8:22:09.
“My teammates were key and they did a perfect job between them all and especially Jan’s attack at the end really set up the win perfectly.”
Jack Haig (Mitchelton-Scott) finished second, with Alejandro Valverde (Movistar Team) in third.
Pogačar’s win of the 181km stage has also put him in the lead for the general classification.
