A life-long dream became a reality for Jason Bruintjies when he was named in the South African junior team for the African Continental Road and Track Championships in Egypt.
For the 17-year-old Capetonian, the announcement justified the hundreds of hours spent on his bike dreaming of representing his country.
In a school year already heavily disrupted by Covid-19, Bruintjies will continue his learning long-distance for the next fortnight.
Thankfully for the Grade 12 pupil at The Settlers High School he has an understanding principal.
