A number of changes to the original South African squads named to compete at the 2021 African Continental Road and Track Championships in Egypt have been confirmed.
Following an appeal by Hayley Preen after her non-inclusion in the team for the African road championships, an independent panel ruled that the 22-year-old Capetonian should be elevated from her reserve rider role into the starting team.
That change resulted in Courteney Webb dropping out of the team and into Preen’s original reserve rider role.

The African Continental Road and Time-trial Championships will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from March 2 to 6.
Meanwhile, the South African team for the African Continental Track Championships (March 10 to 13) has seen a number of withdrawals:

Elite Women Endurance – Maroesjka Matthee
Elite Men Sprint – Wade Theunissen
Junior Men Endurance – Justin Chesterton
Maroesjka Matthee confirmed to In the Bunch her reasons for not competing.
No replacement has been named for the 32-year-old Capetonian, but the other three gaps have been filled:
