The SA Downhill National Championships have been postponed by three weeks.
In addition, when they do take place, they will do so at a new venue.
The news of the postponement and switch from KwaZulu-Natal to the Western Cap was confirmed in a Cycling South Africa statement today.
Cycling SA announced that the CyclingSA MTB Commission along with KZN Gravity MTB had made the joint decision.
The championships, which were originally scheduled for March 6 and 7 at Giba Gorge MTN Park, will now take place at Jonkershoek from March 27 to 28.
The decision was taken in light of the current coronavirus restrictions which restrict the number of participants permitted at events, thus making for an unfair representation of a national championship.
Cycling SA confirmed that all attempts were made to keep the championships at Giba Gorge, but that it was not possible due to the available calendar dates within the cut-off deadline for selections for the world championships.
