South Africa’s Stefan de Bod demonstrated that there are more strings to his bow than just time-trialing with an inspired performance in the UAE Tour’s stage five summit of Jebel Jais.
The 24-year-old Astana-Premier Tech rider had given a timely reminder of his pedigree against the clock with an eighth-place finish in the race’s second stage, finishing just 33 seconds behind Italian world champion Filippo Ganna.
