Umhlanga-born Julian Jessop took top honours in the first event of the KZN XCO Series over the weekend.
The 23-year-old mountain-biker triumphed on home soil at Cascades MTB Park.
Henry Liebenberg took second place ahead of Dean van Dyk.
The U23 men’s title went to Brendan van Eeden.
In the women’s elite category, Tiffany Keep crossed the finish line first ahead of Christie-Leigh Hearder and Jessica Wilkinson.
Keep, who was also racing on familiar territory, finished fourth in the U23 road race at last year’s SA national championship and is the reigning KwaZulu-Natal road race champion.
