Candice Lill claimed the elite women’s SA national time-trial title at the 2021 SA National Road Championships in Swellendam on Friday.
On a morning not ideally suited to racing against the clock due to the weather conditions, the 29-year-old faces.africa star covered the 30km route in a time of 47:04.
Pre-race favourite Carla Oberholzer took second in 48:00 with Zanri Rossouw in third (48:23).
The day started out cool with light drizzle but the rain strengthened as the women’s combined elite and U23 individual time-trial began at 10:10.
Wind too was a factor with riders enjoying a tailwind for the first half of the out-and-back course, only to race the second half into a headwind.
