The three-race 1000 Hills Expeditions mountain bike series kicks off with the 50km Dam Dash around Inanda Dam in KwaZulu-Natal.
Based in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, this series is all about expedition riding and going back to basics, with teams of three or more riders needing to self-navigate via GPS.
The Dam Dash offers riders plenty of single-track, gravel road and dirt trails. It starts and finishes at the eNanda Adventure Centre.
This event is followed by the 85km Downstream Dash from Mountain View outside Pietermaritzburg to Inanda Dam.
The series wraps up with the 110km Big Daddy Dash from Mountain View to Durban.
