The penultimate race of the 1000 Hills Expeditions mountain bike series is the 85km Downstream Dash, which takes place from Bishopstowe in Pietermaritzburg to Inanda Dam.
The trail starts high above the uMsunduze River, meaning riders can look forward to some great descents, through valleys and cattle tracks and back onto dirt roads, with a couple of climbs thrown in.
The 1000 Hills series is about getting back to basics with teams of three riders self-navigating the routes via GPS.
The first race of the series is the 50km Dam Dash, while the 110km Big Daddy Dash brings the expeditions to a close.
