Bicycle component manufacturer Shimano will get the Kargo Pro MTB Team into gear as technical partner for the 2016 season.
Shimano, in partnership with Coolheat SA, will supply shoes, pedals and replacement parts to the elite mountain biking squad.
Coolheat SA’s Jade Mynhardt said the team provided a high-profile platform for young South African riding talent and was a logical choice for the sponsor.
“Kargo has become a strong team on the XCO circuit and has some really good results at the Cape Epic and marathon events as well, combined with good exposure on the international scene.”
Mynhardt said all riders would undergo Shimano technical training classes, which would help them to handle mechanical problems during races.
