It might not be SuperCycling, but Andrew Mclean said the new cycling show on Tuesday nights would definitely be one to watch.
Cadence will fill the gap left by the popular television show in the form of a shorter, punchier cycling news show.
“It’s a new format, just on the same platform, so a lot will have changed,” said Mclean, who will co-host the show with Gerald de Kock.

The half an hour weekly show will not include in-studio discussions, it will instead be shot onsite at various locations and pre-packaged before being sent out to the fans.
“We will preview upcoming events, review equipment, do segments on where to ride, what to ride and who to ride with. At times we’ll also interview some well-known personalities.”
With the focus firmly on cycling, Mclean said national events would get the majority of coverage, but they would also feature international races.
“The first two episodes will be during the Tour de France so we’ll cover that, as well as promote all the international coverage that we receive.”
Mclean said a show such as this was key to growing the cycling industry as good media coverage was in everyone’s best interests.
“I’m very happy and relieved that we have a cycling show. It would be a real shame, a travesty, not to have one if we think of how cycling in the country has grown.
“We have Louis Meintjes, who might even have a chance of getting on the podium at the Tour de France, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, who is ranked third in the world, Greg Minnaar, Alan Hatherly and all the other few I’ve probably forgotten.”
SuperCycling, of which Mclean was a co-host, was cancelled in late March due to a lack of sponsors. Listen here what he had to say.
At the time, guest presenter Owen Hannie said the end of the long-running show was a “massive blow” for the sport.
Mclean said Cadence, which is sponsored by Toyota, would become a regular feature on Tuesday nights and the first episode would be broadcast at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 4, on SuperSport 8.
While final times and channels have yet to be confirmed, he said this information would be available within the next few days.
