South Africa’s Louis Meintjes has confirmed that he will be joining Dimension Data for the 2018 season.
Transfer rumors linked Meintjes, who finished eighth at this year’s Tour de France, to the African team earlier this year but he had been unable to confirm his plans for the future until now.
The current UAE Team Emirates rider rode for the team between 2013 and 2015, when they were still known as MTN-Qhubeka, before he moved to UAE Team Emirates (then Lampre-Merida).
“I am super excited to be coming back home to an African team,” he said.
The 25-year-old said the decision to join the team had been an easy one as, besides being a force to be reckoned with on the road, they did good through their work with Qhubeka.
“In the past two years I’ve gained tremendous experience from a European team and I aim to use that experience to contribute to the success of Team Dimension Data.”
Meintjes recently outlined his plans to secure his first WorldTour podium and team principal, Douglas Ryder said he believed their partnership with him would go a long way in making that happen.
