The 21st edition of the 947 Cycle Challenge will start and finish at Riversands Commercial Park and this year’s route features many twists, turns and climbs in between.

Start
The 95km route starts at Riversands Commercial Park and contines to the R55, where riders will then take a sharp right into the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. After making their way around the track participants will rejoin Woodmead Drive onto the M1 South. The 17km section is deceiving – the rolling hills will test riders legs more than one might expect.
City loops and suburbs
At the halfway mark, riders will almost turn back on themselves as they head through the suburbs of the area. After crossing the Nelson Mandela Bridge, the route takes riders along Jan Smuts Avenue and towards Zoo Lake and Rosebank before turning left onto Homestead. From there the route winds through Bryanston and Douglasdale before heading into uncharted territory around what was the Lion Park.
2017 Additions
From Douglasdale, the route turns onto Witkoppen Road before a few twists and turns take the group north along Malibongwe Drive to the Lion Park intersection.
The home stretch
The final 20km features some challenging climbing, enough to finish already weary legs. After Cedar road, a short, sharp climb takes riders towards Steyn City and onward towards the finish.
