Jason Meaton and Kelsey van Shoor won the Steeltek MTB Classic, one of the Eastern Cape’s toughest mountain bike races, that took place at the Hopewell Conservation Estate near Port Elizabeth yesterday.
Meaton was the clear winner of the 60km event as he crossed the line more than 10 minutes ahead of runner-up Clinton Barrow and third place finisher Steven Shirley.
Time gaps in the women’s race were far less as Kelsey van Schoor narrowly beat Andrea Shirley to take the win. Vicki Laing followed some time later to complete the women’s podium.
Reinhard Strumpfer and Michelle Scowby won the 40km event and Marcell Swartz and Kim Friggens won the 20km.
