Gustav Basson and Dalene van der Leek won the 80km Tour de Farm, which started and finished at the Alzu N4 Petroport in Mpumalanga yesterday.
Basson narrowly held off Brand du Plessis to finish in 2:12:25, one second ahead of Du Plessis. The pair were followed by Max Knox, who completed the men’s podium with a time of 2:14:29.
Van der Leek was a dominant figure on the trails as she finished well ahead of the competition, stopping the clock at 2:32:04. Annelie Cronje finished second in 2:43:46 and Wendy Muller finished third in 2:49:02.
Prince Maseko and Bernice van Wyk won the 35km men’s and women’s races, while Christaan Labuschagne and Mia Wolmarans won the 15km event.
