Team BCX have announced that Marc Pritzen, 18, will join the team for the 2018 season.
Pritzen, born in Windhoek but now living in Johannesburg, will compete in his first race under the BCX banner when he lines up for the six-stage Mpumalanga Tour, starting on January 13.
Pritzen, the 2017 junior half-marathon champion in the national MTB series, is understandably over the moon.
“I’m excited, but also nervous. Coming out of juniors straight into a professional team will be a big challenge. But I’m ready for it,” he said after the announcement.
“I will benefit by learning from the experienced guys in the team. The opportunity will force me to work my way up the ranks.
“It will be a challenge, but I’m looking forward to it,” he said, adding that he liked the feel of the team.
“The atmosphere seems to be really great. From what I’ve seen this year, they look like a nice bunch of guys.
Pritzen added that one of his main highlights from this year was winning the Spur Schools MTB League.
