World road race champion Peter Sagan secured the overall lead after winning stage four of the Tour Down Under in Uraidla, Australia, today.
The Bora-Hansgrohe rider from Slovakia outsprinted South Africa’s Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Spain’s Luis León Sánchez (Astana Pro Team) in the race over 128.2km to take the win in 3:21:07.

Sagan was extremely satisfied with his first stage win.
“Every day it has been a different winner, which is great for the race.”
Impey remains second in the overall standings, and only two seconds behind the new leader. Sagan’s teammate Jay McCarthy of Australia is third, trailing by nine seconds.
South African Nicholas Dlamini (Dimension Data) holds onto the King of the Mountains jersey with 36 points.
Tomorrow’s stage will be contested over 151.5km from McLaren Vale to Willunga Hill.
