Two South African cyclists finished sixth and tenth respectively in the individual time-trial race at the African Continental Road Championships in Kicukiro today.
Eddie van Heerden blitz the course to finish in a time of 56’10”, which earned him a sixth place, while Gustav Basson completed the 40km ride in 57’39” to claim the 10th spot.

Eritrea’s Mekseb Debesay, who finished in 53’25”, was crowned the winner. Rwanda’s Jean Bosco Nsengimana came in second after 54’16” and countryman Joseph Areruya rounded out the podium with a finishing time of 54’19”.
Ethiopia’s Redwan Ebrahim came in fourth after 55’40”, while Namibia’s Drikus Coetzee claimed the fifth spot after 55’59”.
