BMC Racing’s Greg van Avermaet won the 179.5km third stage of the Tour of Oman today.
The Belgian charged to victory up the Wadi Dayqah Dam to complete the race in 4:36:04. He beat UAE Team Emirates’ Rui Alberto Faria da Costa (Portugal) and Astana Pro’s Alexey Lutsenko (Kazakhstan) into second and third respectively.
Van Avermaet now moves up from second to take hold of the leader’s jersey. Lutsenko is currently second in the general classification, with Katusha-Alpecin’s Nathan Haas (Australia) in third.

DiData’s Merhawi Kudus, who finished fifth yesterday, came 14th in stage three and is currently 10th overall.
