Nominations are open for the position of Cycling South Africa president following the shock resignation of William Newman last weekend.
According to a statement on Cycling SA’s website, nominees for this unpaid volunteer position need to present their credentials to an appointed panel for short-listing.
They must provide comprehensive information on their background, why they feel they should be selected, their vision for the organisation, key priorities they’ve identified for their term of office and their curriculum vitae.
A letter of support from their provincial cycling structure/region is also needed.
Roles and responsibilities of this position include leading the executive committee, chairing various meetings, ensuring long- and short-term strategies are considered and approved by the board, acting as a focal point for corporate governance and giving guidance on the sustainability and growth of the sport. The candidates much also indicate how such strategies will be implemented.
The chosen candidate will provide a lead in linking the board to the cyclists as stakeholders of Cycling SA, and also be a link between the management of the organisation and the board.
Further responsibilities include monitoring new directors and meeting on an individual basis with directors once every quarter.
The closing date for submissions is March 26 at midday.
