Tankwa Trek results: Hatherly, Andreassen win stage two

Spur Specialized’s Alan Hatherly and Simon Andreassen won the second stage of the Tankwa Trek, which took riders on an 83km struggle from Kaleo through the Bokkeveld to Ceres today.

The pair finished the race in 3:41:29, beating stage one winners Canyon-Topeak’s Alban Lakata and Kristián Hynek, who still retains the yellow. NAD Pro’s Nico Bell and Matt Beers rounded out the podium.

PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthys Beukes and Philip Buys finished in fourth in the final bunch sprint.

Team dormakaba SA’s Candice Lill and Helen Grobert, won the women’s race in 4:20:17. The pair, who also won the first stage, beat Team Ascendis Health’s Robyn de Groot and Sabine Spitz and Silverback Volvo-OMX’s Yolande de Villiers and Mariske Strauss in second and third respectively.
