Netherlands’ Adne van Engelen won the men’s road race at the World University Cycling Championship in Braga, Portugal, yesterday.
He completed the 126km event in 2:56:33 to beat fellow countryman Jacob de Lange (2:57:35) and Australia’s Liam Magennis (2:57:35).

The women’s event, which consisted of a 93km course, was won by Poland’s Marta Lach in 2:54:57. She was followed home by fellow compatriot Karolina Sowa (2:54:57) and Germany’s Jaqueline Dietrich (2:56:23).
South Africa’s Max Sullivan finished 32nd (3:13:28), Jacques Lloyd 39th (3:28:11) and Elmari de Wet 14th (3:13:55).
