The three-stage Y2Karoo mountain bike race started in Colesberg, Northern Cape, on Friday.

Stage one
The opening stage consisted of a 25km event for both the participants in the long and short tours. As the stage only started at 16:00, riders could enjoy a sunset ride in the Karoo. It took cyclists through the Skietberg MTB Trail and some Karoo “koppies”.

Stage two
During the second stage of this event, riders had to complete a 72km course in the long tour and a 43km route in the short tour. Participants were treated to views from Karoo farms and had to endure a section called the Jurassic Park, which is a 15km stretch of what the organisers call “mountain bike heaven”.

Stage three
The final day takes those doing the longer tour on a 74km route while those in the shorter tour get to enjoy a 45km journey. Riders will be exploring more farms and get to ride along the Oorlogspoort River.
