Gustav Basson was the highest placed South African after finishing third in the prologue at the Tour de Maurice in Mauritius yesterday.
The ProTouch rider completed the 3.4km route in a time of 6:03, while the stage was won by France’s Guillaume Gaboriaud and Mauritius’ Christopher Lagane placed second.

Fourth place went to Mauritius’ Clint Hendricks, while South Africa’s James Fourie, also from ProTouch, completed the top five.
