South Africa’s Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio has signed a contract with CCC and will join the team in 2019, the team said in a statement yesterday.
Formerly known as WaowDeals Pro, the team will be called CCC from next year. It is a Netherlands-based team having comprised 11 WorldTour women riders this year, nine of which were Dutch, one British and the other Israeli.
Only seven of them, however, will remain at the team next year, namely: Inge van der Heijden, Jeanne Korevaar, Riejanne Markus, Pauliena Rooijakkers, Dani Rowe, Sabrina Stultiens and Marianne Vos.
Moolman-Pasio, who has ridden for Cervelo Bigla over the last four years, was the first rider to join CCC in the current transfer window.
“After four wonderful years with my current team, I am now ready for the next step,” Moolman-Pasio said in the team’s statement.
“With the transition to CCC, I hope I can improve myself and above all, win more prizes.
“During this season, I have gathered numerous places of honour, but I also want to be on the highest podium step more often,” she added.
That result had achieved her career-long goal of becoming the first African to podium in a Grand Tour.
