Berg and Bush ‘Descent’ results: Buys, Beukes win opening stage

Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes won the opening stage of the Berg and Bush ‘Descent’ in KwaZulu-Natal today.

The Pyga Euro Steel duo completed the 98km race in 3:21:09 to beat NAD Pro’s Nico Bell, Matt Beers, Gawie Combrinck and Wessel Botha in a four-team sprint to the finish.

Bell and Beers finished second leaving Combrinck and Botha in third. Andrew Hill and Shaun-Nick Bester (TIB-Silverback-Best4Sport) were the final team in the battle to victory but finished just outside of the podium.

Team dormakaba SA’s Amy McDougall and Samantha Sanders won the women’s category, while Yolandi Toit and Ben Melt Swanepoel took the spoils in the mixed race.
