David Cooke won the men’s race at the sixth event in the Trailseeker Series in Cullinan, Gauteng, today.

He out-sprinted Bradley Potgieter (2:28:50) and Pieter Korkie (2:28:51) when he finished the 70km marathon in 2:28:50.
For most of the men’s race, the field stayed together. Half way through the race, a small breakaway formed comprising Cooke and Potgieter, who battled it out for the lead until the finish.
Sarah Hill took the honours in the women’s race when she finished in 2:48:26. Second was Johandri Leicester (2:52:58), followed by Faye Darby (3:09:28).
Hill dominated the women’s field from early in the race. At 15km, she opened up a gap of two minutes and stayed away to later enjoy a four-minute lead at the finish.
Hennie van Wyk (1:13:28) took the spoils in the 40km men’s half marathon ahead of Willie van Eck (1:14:26) and Erick Heyns (1:15:54).
The women’s race was won by Monique du Toit in 1:31:00. She was followed by Natasha Roets (1:31:01) and Jade Slabbert (1:31:51).
