An in-competition test was conducted on August 18, which means all his results from the Junior Track World Champs last year are invalid.
“The UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal has imposed a period of ineligibility of 12 months for the violation, applicable as of 22 September, 2018, up till 22 September, 2019,” Cycling SA said in a statement.
“Ricardo Broxham is therefore suspended and prohibited from competing in the sport of cycling, as well as in any other sport, in SA and internationally during this time.”
Broxham had what seemed like a breakthrough season as a junior last year, having been crowned the national junior road champ in February, before winning the Junior Tour of Ireland in July.
