South African teenager Rickardo Broxham has been slapped with a one-year ban for doping. Heptaminol was found in his sample in August last year, Cycling SA announced on Friday.
An in-competition test was conducted on August 18, which means all his results from the Junior Track World Champs last year are invalid.
“The UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal has imposed a period of ineligibility of 12 months for the violation, applicable as of 22 September, 2018, up till 22 September, 2019,” Cycling SA said in a statement.
“Ricardo Broxham is therefore suspended and prohibited from competing in the sport of cycling, as well as in any other sport, in SA and internationally during this time.”
