Gert Heyns claimed his first win of the season in the 80km Herald Cycle Tour mountain bike race, which took place at Addo near Port Elizabeth yesterday.

The DSV Pro Cycling rider completed the race in 3:01:21, beating Nicol Carstens by one second. Marco Joubert crossed the line just over five minutes later.
“I’m very happy with the race. It was good to get my first win of the season,” said the 26-year-old, who claimed his third victory at the Herald Cycle Tour.
“I always enjoy racing this event. It is very well organised and features a fun route.”
