The two remaining stages of the seven-day UAE Tour, which started on Sunday, have been cancelled due to an occurrence of the coronavirus, it was announced by the event organisers this morning.

The organising committee called off the tour, which was scheduled to finish tomorrow, after two Italian staff members of one of the competing teams tested positive for the virus.
“The decision has been taken to ensure protection of all the race’s participants,” said the committee.
“Safety comes at the top of all priorities.”
The Ministry of Health also stated that all riders, staff and organisers would be tested through a process of continuous periodic screening.
They added that all necessary precautions and preventative measures were taken.
Race leader Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) is thought to have sealed the overall title.
